ACT Meters was formed in 1985. Its mission was to design and produce specialist tools and test equipment specifically for the security industry. The words "Alarm Circuit Test" were used for the company name ACT and its first innovative product "Checkmate" - a radio linked test meter designed to enable one engineer to carry out remote circuit testing and troubleshooting, is still unique today. Checkmate’s ability to identify all manner of faults lead ACT to produce a complete range of EMI/RFI filters and retrofit modules, designed to prevent identified causes of false alarms from re-occurring.
More recently, ACT has won no less than four industry awards in the last three years. First the "Security Industry Award" presented in New York for the "Intelligent Battery Tester", followed by the "IFSEC sponsored BSIA Award" for the same product, next the "E-Commerce Award" for "Best Website" and finally the "PSI Premier Award" for "Industry Training".
